this router has this big elaborate setup for parentel controls where I think you have to manually type in every porn site ever made and type in all the bad words my other router just had a simple three choices block phishing sites, block phishing sites and like somethigjn else, then block all that and porn it was very simple

do I need to change the spi firewall thing to low/med/high or can that stay off I can't tell if that is part of the checkbox thing

Autistic Spectrum

steveyos
10-04-2013, 01:46 PM
ok I just clicked low medium and high and yeah in the allowed services box shit shows up, the thing is though low still says no ports restricted, and medium has GAME stuff in it and high doesn't

should I just keep it in high and if everything still works then good but if things don't work switch ot to medium then low?

steveyos
10-04-2013, 01:46 PM
in high I can unfortunately still make posts at rubynet

steveyos
10-04-2013, 01:47 PM
can't connect to steam I will try medium

steveyos
10-04-2013, 01:48 PM
medium didn't work either, low does, but I don't know if low is actually protecting me from flaggerchats

steveyos

I would always get STRITCT NAT problems with warframe with my other things let me see if that still happens now

Autistic Spectrum
10-04-2013, 01:55 PM
i would scan your ports first stevey, then i would proceed from there, don't think flaggerchat can do all that but idk

GOD DAMMIT

textures in second life are doing the same thing like my other router, a bunch don't load all the way and stay blurry

I set it from low to off and without even having to restart the game everything is now loading perfect

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:02 PM
what is it with router firewalls not liking me

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:04 PM
if anyone hacked my computer they'd find them self in one of the emptiest computers in the world and eventually make their way to the emptiest bank account in the world so I'm not worried I have a clean install of windows 8 with second life and a few steam games

steveyos

gonna see if warframe still gives me strict nat bullshit with this crisco with the firewall off, warframe supports unpnp let's see if this thing actually does unpnp right

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:10 PM
every time I start warframe there's a 500-1000+mb patch but I don't ever see anything change lol

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:13 PM
~ 3MB/s hurry up fuck you

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:32 PM
no strict nat bullshit from warframe in both off and low settings!

second life actually uses over 9000 ports, so I'm gonna try portforward.com adn setting up a static ip

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:35 PM
btw thanks dp

steveyos
10-04-2013, 02:35 PM
wow portforward.com doesn't have second life................................................................................................ .............................................................. I guess I can still use it to set up a static ip by choosing a differnt program since that step should be the same

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Configuring your hardware firewall
Although the details depend on your specific firewall, follow this general procedure:
Open outbound access for TCP ports - Second Life servers do not establish inbound TCP connections to client systems running the Second Life Viewer software. Instead, they use the "request / response" message pattern. Enable outbound TCP access for ports 53, 80, 443, 12043, 12046 and 21002.
Open outbound "session" access for UDP ports- Although UDP is a session-less transport, many firewalls block unsolicited incoming UDP traffic to a particular port unless it has seen recent outgoing UDP traffic from that same port. Activate outbound UDP for ports 53, 3478, 3479, 5060, 5062, and 12000-29999.

pretty sure I choose port range forwarding but does external = outbound and internal = inboud or something or do I just put 53 in all four boxes? FUCK WHY DOES THIS EVEN EXIST
