 not buying into the benchmark queen intel hype, spending half as much on a cpu that will have performance indistinguishable from intel's best for all practical purposes. I like it.

Should have bought bullets jon. They're shutting down the lead smelters.
you know what i'm not going to get the M5A97, that won't do crossfire at 16x on both pci-e slots. i'm going with this instead
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
its only $60 more and it will run a pair of radeon 7000 series cards in crossfire at full speed, so later when the gtx 480 is no longer powerful enough to keep up, i can easily upgrade, plus it has an internal usb 3.0 header, so i will be able to use the usb 3.0 ports on the front of the case, whereas that other board does not have that, its only usb 3.0 is on the back panel
that x60 cooler will keep that cpu at like 30C, i won't be seeing any bluescreens, thanks
Oh my god I hate these fucking tech threads. I don't know what they mean omg
baby, i will teach u what u need to know, just sit down with me on the couch here, and let's talk about parts and connections

No thank you Jon I don't associate with racists!
ruby has 64gb of RAM... that's DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
my 16gb of RAM is DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900), it will have to work pretty hard to keep up
yeah you do cag, everyone is racist, especially arabs, slavs and japs, you live in a sheltered world, but we're here to open you up and teach you what's really happening out there

its amazing what you can build for $750 these days; thats the budget i built my computer on like 4 and a half years ago, and it has a 3.2GHz quad core phenom II, 2 gigs of DDR3 (it was when ddr3 just came out), and a 1 gig video card

do you work for corsair
their coolers are fine, their memory is fine, its just that i always buy the shit that has lots of reviews and mostly positive results, and the shit that has promo codes and rebates and so on usually is second-rate and just needs to be cleared off the shelves
not that it's all that different and i maybe will never notice, but i also don't have to worry about Q/A, differences between the flagship product that everybody likes, and the slightly-worse version, which doesn't get as closely inspected
in this particular case the H100 cooler is probably as good a choice as the X60 cooler, i will think that over

I'm not sure it's steffies' style post
however, I'm not going to discuss with steveyos about the computers again
buy it
stevey wouldn't buy an amd, he read an article about benchmark scores that proves intels are better at taking benchmarks
I'm using AMD fusion I wouldn't play games with max settings on computer. I'm not steveyos.

you don't really need more than 8gb ram these days but if you want your want your computer to still be able to keep up in a few years time then 16gb is good, I have no idea what you'd need 64gb ram for a home computer for, you wouldn't even use it
just to confirm yes I can in fact run everything out on max settings
could have done that on an FX for half the price

jon writes code for several different platforms so he's going to be using either emulators or VMs, in addition to a big heavy development suite. also ram is dirt cheap you might as well max out your board so you don't have to upgrade later.
stop assuming nobody uses their computers for anything more than browsing rubynet and talking on msn

yeah i know basically its just a good deal as 2 sticks instead of 1, it's the price point that i look for, to tell me where most of the sales volume is
by swimming with the stream i am statistically more likely to get a product that passed Q/A with flying colors
so i trade some money in exchange for saving my personal time, which is more valuable; i can always earn more money, but you can't earn a longer life; you can only sit around and hope someone else solves that problem for you; like that they make a machine that eats poor people and shits stem cells, or whatever
