this is on the side of cigarette packs.. Since the tobacco companies are allowed to make their own anti-smoking warnings and advertisements, they clearly worded this so it can subconsciously register to a person as a good thing

Quitting smoking now greatly reduces serious risks to your health! So it can be taken to mean like, they've recently made cigarettes safer and they now greatly reduce serious risks to health

it's bullshit. They should not be allowed to make their own warnings. They've done studies showing that the anti-smoking advertisements by phillip morris actually lead to younger people wanting to smoke..

If you give them television time, any amount of it, they will use it to their advantage. Even if by law they're supposed to be warning of the dangers of smoking, they will hire corporate psychoanalysts to pick apart an ad and piece it together in a way which is subconsciously appealing rather than deterring.

it may seem like I'm nitpicking, but think about it. In any business making billions of dollars a year, there is some degree of psychological warfare going on behind the scenes -- no matter how subtle it may seem.

I read a label and somehow interpreted it as the complete opposite of what it actually said, and instead of wondering what the fuck is wrong with me I will assume that everyone else is dyxlexic too and bitch about corporations using mind control on us

you're so smart for figuring out that a label which says "quitting smoking now greatly reduces risks to your health" is somehow a pro-smoking slogan I'm putting a gold star next to your name my special little guy
