My 2011 macbook pro got hit by the video card glitch. I called apple, they sent me a box, and I had a new motherboard in 3 days, no warranty, no cost. They also replaced my palmrest and keyboard, I didn't even ask for that. And, since I shiopped it to them with 8gb of non apple ram, they replaced it with 4gb of apple ram (how it was configured when I bought it) and stuck my ram in the box so I could reinstall it. Say what you want about apple, but they fucking hook you up on repairs.

manufacturing defect. the GPU in this model gets too hot and the solder joints fail. same shit happened to Latitude D's a few years back. in my case it took 5 years of heavy use to show itself, but apple still covered it because they stand by their hardware.

i've never had a good out of Apple care experience with apple. They make it more worthwhile to buy a new machine and cockblock non apple store techs.

I had an old apple server and took it in to an apple store to talk to a grnius and the front of house staff had never heard of such a thing and argued with me to no end until I got angry and told them to just put me into a queue to speak to a guy. they seemed agitated because they couldn't describe what I wanted.

what do you expect, the "geniuses" are $13 sales reps whose technical expertise begins and ends at showing old ladies how to empty their trash and sign into icloud. for an xserve you should have called in, they probably would have assigned you a personal account rep like they did for me.

it boggles the mind that you went into an apple store expecting advice any more useful than "hurr dur the iphone 6s has faster internet and more room for apps and comes with a free selfie stick"

apple overcharges for hardware, but if you do it for work i guess that doesnt make you a true macfag

they're not overcharging if it's worth it. it's like buying a mercedes, you get a rock solid machine that's a joy to use and the manufacturer stands by it

for instance mac laptops have the best touchpads in the industry, nobody else even comes close. they're smooth, responsive, they were the first to support multitouch gestures

It's evident Apple has no CRM, meanwhile buying a firearm and get support is really easier than getting macbook

I mean if you want to put a sticker on your laptop that's up to you but I think you're making a big deal out of nothing

The good thing is they don't have glowing logo, they can be applied with vinyl or sticker to cover entire backscreen.

Macbook, only black vinyl, the good thing is I can make vectors so they can use plotter

I've seen a lot of glowing logos, the lenovo actually as a red LED as the dot on the 'i' in 'thinkpad', but again whatever floats your boat
