Ok but you'll mainly just see skulls from archeological digs with holes carved into their skull that we know were done while they were alive and survived because the bone shows signs of healing. You'll have to dig pretty deep to find anything really graphic. Although that e-mail goes to some American society that practices trepanning. Trepanning is claimed to have beneficial results for some. (The ones that don't get infections and die and live to tell the tale and say "yeah drilling a hole in my head really made me a better person"

Anyway meanwhile shock therapy is used without anyone lifting much of an eyebrow and the only thing they know about electrocuting someone in the brain is that at best it causes some brain damage that can sometimes leave a person with a more pleasant disposition and at worst it renders a person severely brain damaged, in a vegetable state or kills them.
