    Exclamation
I can test small FFT (CPU) fine with no issue.
I have also ran memtest86+ for 8 hours and counting, no errors found yet with 3 passes.
Is there a way to test the north bridge and or memory controller hub? My mobo is a 7 years old p8p67m pro and still seems fine.
I hate that lga1155 is not only discontinued but more than RRP for whatever stock is left, and my i7 2600k is going well 7 years on so dont want to replace what works and performs fine....

After 16 hours if memtest returns no errors gonna try a single ram module in each dimm slot and see by process of elimination if a specific slut is broken or if the north bridge is fucked and need a new board

Turns off without a sound like as if its an emergency shutdown. Temps are fine with good airflow. Very odd if RAM comes back squeeky clean

Memtest ran for 17 hours and 7 passes without error.
How would i test psu without tools?
I found my pau is older than my mobo by a few months in 2011 "Antec TPQ-1000 1000W TruePower Quattro ATX & EPS 12V Power Supply, Modular Cables, Four 12V Rails, 80Plus Certified"
Its ran good for ages. Gonna try dimm slot tests tonight.

you'd run it with a different psu and observe if the problem persists

I have a pc with the same issue and narrowed it down to the psu or mobo. Idc enough about it to swap either of them out. All i know is that it runs without issue in linux but it crashes randomly in windows with no logs or anything

it's fixed. I found out that my board was using the third release of the bios versions, reading tonnes of shit about it and there were several updates to the bios that fixed many stability issues.
can run both prime95 tests that were dropping my computer.

now im wondering if my last radeon card was blue screening due to a faulty bios version

yea i stumbled across my board's issues from launch when searching for hardware issues relating to it, a tech post from 2011 saved me lol. i updated it's bios from version 0703 to 3701, the list of previous versions had 9 fixes for stability and compatibility... im more worried about how this board's issues may have impacted my replacement of GPUs over the past 7 years.

For some reason, your mobo got dirt and dust may overheat which shortens life.

More reasonable than buying a gtx 9 series months before the 10 series launched...

since this is the computer problems thread I recently got some odd problem where I hear this weird revving sound from inside my computer, kind of sounds like a playstation controller vibrating at full blast on and off in like 5 bursts every 10 seconds or so, and just now I hear this weird high pitched squeaking along with it that almost sounds like a bird chirping, and this seems to cause mad slowdown on my computer like I only have 1GB of RAM or something and every program freezes or just goes super slow, but this is intermittent so far I usually just restart and it calms down for like 12 hours operating as normal

here's an audio recording of it, it didnt pick up the revving sound but it seriously sounds like there's a fucking little bird in there what le fuck

The revving sound could be a fan close to failure. Download HWmonitor i think it should show fan speeds. Bearings on fans last so long depending on the bearing type. They run out of oil over time and stop cooling your system.
    https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
HW monitor should also show system temps and is better used on a second screen to watch in real time. Cpu and gpu should be good under 70 degrees celcius on 100% workload but they are designed to handle up to 90 or even 100 degrees celcius but thats very bad for durability.
When it makes sounds watch your temps. You can leave the side of the case open and look in with a flashlight when it is making sounds to determine where its coming from.

Fan failure and high temps will cost you a bundle. Replacement is cheap maybe 20 pounds, gotta measure the fan size or look up your case's manufacturer for specifications

Sleeve bearing fans are cheap and fail the fastest. Ball bearing fans can last a while but cost more. Premium fans have some new designs and cost more but can last years but at a high cost.
