Read carefully through this thread before you post a question about reputation. The answers to commonly asked questions about the reputation system are below.

General information about the reputation system:

What is the reputation system?

The reputation system allows members to show their appreciation for other members on the board by allowing them to add to a member's point total. By accumulating more reputation points, a user will achieve a higher reputation title.

What do you mean by "reputation points" and "power?"

When others add to your reputation, you gain reputation points. How many points you gain depends on the amount of power the user giving you reputation has earned. See below for an explanation of how to increase your reputation power.

When should I give reputation points?

That's really up to you. You might want to give reps to other members when they help you on the game boards. Maybe you thought a user made a really good post on the Message Board Questions forum. Or maybe you really liked someone's game on House of Games. There are endless possibilities!

How do I give someone reputation points?

It's easy! Go to the bottom left corner of a user's post. You'll see three icons there. The one in the middle is a silver scale. If you click on the silver scale, you'll see the option to add to that user's reputation. Click on the "Add to Reputation" button and that user's amount of reputation points will increase by the amount of power you have.


How reputation power works:

A member must have 10 posts before his/her reputation hits count on others.
For every 100 days a member is registered, he/she gains 1 point of reputation altering power.
For every 2000 posts a member has, he/she gains 1 point of reputation power.
For every 5000 reputation points a member has, he/she gains 1 point of reputation power.

Are there limitations to how much reputation you can give?

Yes.

A user can give 15 reputation clicks over each 24 hour period. If you try to give more than 15 members reps, this is the message you will see:

"You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later."

A user must give 8 different users reputation before he can hit the same person again. If you try to give the same user rep without the minimum number in between, you will see the following message:

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to [username] again."

Reputation Levels:

As you earn more reputation points, you also earn new, fun titles. A list of these titles is below, but some of the levels are kept secret for you to sleuth out on your own.

User hasn't been given any reputation - 0 points
User has been seen around these parts - 10 points
User is on a distinguished road - 50 points
User has a spectacular aura about - 100 points
User is a jewel in the rough - 200 points
User is just super nice - 300 points
User is a glorious beacon of light - 400 points
User is a name known to all - 600 points
User is a splendid one to behold - 1000 points
User has much to be proud of - 1500 points
User has a brilliant future - 2500 points
User has a reputation beyond repute - 5000 points
User is one of the greatest posters ever! - 7500 points
User is an expert on these boards - 10000 points
User is headed toward stardom - 25000 points
User is a fountain of wisdom - 50000 points
All others - secret!

How do I see who has given me reputation points?

Click on the link in the upper left corner of the message board that says "User CP." In your control panel, you will see a section called "Latest Reputation Received." This section will show you the last twenty members who gave you reps.

Why is there a gray box next to one of the users who has given me reps?

Most of the time when a user gives you reps, there will be a green magnifying glass next to his/her name. However, occasionally, it will be a gray rectangle. This just means that the user tried to give you reputation points, but he/she has not yet accumulated any power.

Other reputation system guidelines:

There are a few additional rules to follow when using the reputation system. Keep in mind that reputation is a fun feature of the message board, and the main purpose of the board is to help users with their Nancy Drew games. From the rules:

Reputation Guidelines (reps)
Reps may not be put in titles
Reps may not be asked for or requested in any manner.
Reps may be offered in posts without conditions such as "Reps! Reps given!"
Reps may never be offered with conditions such as "reps to first three", "reps to all that help", "reps to answers in first 5 minutes", etc.

and alos let's me get this striahgt,, marks get's his rep reset when he writes a bot to post 50,000 times, even though the rep boosting power he was given from that is no where near what camerone was given fromo having his join date changed,, THIS IS FIXED, IT'S A FIXED SYSTEM

hmm ya marks made 50,000 bot posts with a bot he made by himself, no admini help at all, and gained 25 rep power points,,
