he's not incapable, he's just lazy.

that's probably true, but it's a matter of mindset. his mood is unstable and he claims to be in a great deal of pain. if he has some success in his life doing something, he may eventually try to function in the real world. i doubt he's incapable, he's just been told and has told himself he's useless for a long time.
