Sticky: Rubynet's policy on personal information

There is one rule, and only one rule, we have absolutely zero tolerance on. It is not just a herpetarium rule but a violation of rubynet's terms of service.

Posting any identifying personal information will result in a ban without a prior warning.

While the majority of you have been upstanding herpetarium citizens, we thought that in the wake of recent events a reminder was due.

Unfortunately, we still have to remove several posts and ban users every day for breaking the most important and simple of rules. If we see any of the following, we will not hesitate to ban you and that ban will be permanent:

Full names
Facebook links
Pictures of people's faces - Pictures of celebrities and famous people are okay. What this refers to is "does anyone know this person?" "this person stole my camera" etc. We're concerned with people's information being spread without their knowledge or consent.
Addresses
E-Mail addresses
Twitter accounts
Anything that would lead to identifying of a single person


Importantly, we have no way of identifying if information is yours or someone else's.

Even if the information is your own, the same rules apply.

These rules are not negotiable and they are intended to protect all users from what can be devastating outcomes.
