It's too hot to touch it and see if the cap is on tight enough, it might just not be screwed down tight enough. I hope there isn't a crack in the radiator.

the cap is going to be hot after you drive it. the purpose of the cap is to let off excess pressure in case the system creates more steam than it can handle. it has a little spring loaded thing inside. you should have an overflow jug connected with a tube to your radiator somewhere in the engine bay. after your car has cooled down for a couple of hours, go out there with a flashlight and look at the level of the fluid in the overflow jug. there ought to be a little line on the outside that says "full," "hot," "cold," something of that nature. make sure you have fluid in the jug and that its near whatever line there is. otherwise if you are leaking an excessive amount of fluid, some is normal, look to see where its coming from the next time your car has been running for a while. if its actually leaking out of your radiator, water pump, or one of the hoses, thats a much better situation than if you have coolant disappearing. the outside parts of your cooling system are meant to be replaced at certain intervals and you need to figure out which one of them it is.

its wet around the radiator cap because your system is creating too much steam. that happens because its not cooling efficiently enough and its losing fluid somewhere, allowing it to boil more of the water. that wont tell you what the problem is, ignore the idiot. leave your car in a parking garage somewhere and i will come down over night and fix it and not hide in your trunk waiting to kill you

Thanks for your help though, really. Really hope its nothing more than the cap not being secured tightly, but if the overheating and "boiling" persists, I'll get it taken in this week.

wow youre like a poor kid. theyll probably have to replace something, i.e. a waterpump. they have bearings in them that must fail at some point. and it tends to be around 80-120k miles. just make sure the water is coming out and not disappearing. if theres no visible sign of a water leak, enjoy the engine rebuild

they have some sort of pressure release mechanism whether its a spring or not
