wow question for wow players about wow

I signed up for world of warcraft like a year ago and I played it for 15 minutes and I was all "well this is shit" and went and played fallout new vegas instead. today I got an email, the gist of which was "Due to suspicious activity, the Battle.net account myaddress@gmail.com has been locked. To restore access to this account, please follow these steps:". Does this mean someone bruteforced my account, or is this some blizzard idiosyncrasy that everyone is used to? I guess what I'm asking is should I give a shit?

who would even know that account existed? it's not like I play all the time and have fancy armor and assloads of gold and my email address isn't anything common in fact it has a period in it

I tried to open a ticket about it like they suggested but you need to log in and I can't log in because my account is locked. fuck it, I was just going to ask them to cancel it anyway

I really don't, my biggest concern is whether my email address was compromised because I have it linked to like 8 devices and it would be a gigantic pain in the ass to change the password

I was concerned that they got into the email first, then went after my abandoned wow account. but I suppose they would have changed my password already if they had.

my theory why blizzard account are getting hacked so much is because there are dirty people in the blizzard company making money on the side.

my account got hacked and merged to someones battlenet account after i quit playing in 2009, and its unrecoverable because merging to a bnet account is some stupid idea...

i found out it was stolen like 3 years later because i kept junk mailing all this spam bullshit from asian farmers saying rubbish and trying to get you to reply to a fake battlenet email with special hidden characters
