the truth about suicide hotlines
companies which host suicide hotlines are privately held subsidiaries of various corporations in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. They are designed to lure people in to the mental health system for profit.
Typically, they will call 911 and have you committed to a psychiatric hospital if what you say crosses a legal threshold that deems you "an immediate danger to yourself or others".
Not only will they choose to call 911, but in many legal jurisdictions they are required by law to report you to the authorities.
All calls are recorded the second an individual connects to the hotline.
So the mental health system basically figures that they need to make a quick buck off of suicidal people before they off themselves by having them involuntarily committed to a psychiatric ward - most of which charge the inpatients hundreds even thousands of dollars a day for staying; not to mention the profit the pharmaceutical companies make off the prescription sales of medications which inpatients are required to (and if it is protested, forced to) take.
TL;DR, they don't give a flying shit if you're about to kill yourself lol, they're con-jobs trying to mug you for what they can before you're in the ground. It's bizness
