how about buy a TV that has HDMI ports so it can do both normally
why would you want to do that? unless you have a modern tv pretty much everything is going to look like dick on it
i mean chances are if you have a pc from this year, your monitor also recent and a better display than a shitty crt tv from 2004, even if the monitor is smaller

I'm interested in doing it because I don't have cable or satellite and it would be neat to watch TV on my TV via my PC. I also emulate more games than I play hard copies of anymore, and I find my couch more comfortable to sit on than my computer chair at my desk.
I'm probably not going to buy a new TV until this one dies, so I guess I'll be waiting a while to do it. Heh, a friend of mine's television set is 26 years old and still working well. It's going to be a while. Does everyone here have a flat screen/newer television set?

the second link is for a serial to a composite connection. if your computer has a serial output, just buy that cable, you dont need the other adapter. if your computer does not have a serial output for video, you need the convertor from the first link and you do not need the cable from the second. i imagine you only need the convertor box from the first link. you will take your vga cable coming from the back of your computer and plug it into that box. then take composite cables and plug them from the box into the tv. considering that its a crt television from 2004 that has jacks in the front, im guessing it wasnt high end, and it doesnt have a sound input. so you're going to have to leave your computer speakers plugged in
