I'd buy one for a set top box but idc about playing steam games with a joystick
whats it do lots of big words here ^_~
"set top" i didnt know anyone else still said that. i got made fun of for that a couple years ago when some idiots who had forgottoen tv sets used to be deep enough to set shit on top of them
i have a set top dvd player, cable box and vcr
i havent played a vhs in over a decade im just an anachronist
pretty sure I still have a vcr plugged in too but I have no idea if it even works. in my case it's laziness, I'm far too lazy to disconnect it and either find a new place for it or throw it away
I can't give up my vcr with all the old 70's - 80's porn I have. It'll take too long hooking it up to a capture card and putting it all on my pc, so I'm kinda screwed.
eventually those tapes are gonna get fucked up
I wonder if I can take them to walmart or somewhere and have them converted?
:hmm:
connect the vcr output to one of the inputs on a dvd-r deck. hit play on the vcr, hit record on the dvd, and you're good
i have my cable box going thru my dvd, to the tv. that way i can record cable movies to dvds
are you guys talking about magic
ugh i dont ever want to look at a capture card again after working with dozens of them for 4 years
also i didn't realize you had such a busy lifestyle
I don't even have time to jerk off irl
I like the idea of a SteamBox, but the main problem I'm hearing is that it will be linux based.
What about all my games that I have on steam that won't run in a linux environment? I'm sure they are working on that, using their own version of WinE or something, but it just seems lacking?
You'll have to rebuy them for 3x the amount you paid for them.
Wine is shit, it doesn't run the majority of things you would want to run and the ones it does run much slower than they would natively. Chances are they'll handle this the same way they do with Steam on Mac, Valve games will be available for all platforms, if you buy a 3rd party game that has a Mac/Linux port you will get all 3 versions when you purchase it, and if a game is Windows only you're shit out of luck.
I would expect, however, that this will drive a lot more developers to release Linux ports of their games.
to be honest the only game I would want to play on my TV would be PixelJunk Monsters
