there are 100 billion neurons in your brain - to put that number into perspective, there are an estimated 100 billion stars in the milky way galaxy, and an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the known universe. Each neuron has up to 10,000 connections to other neurons. And then think, each time a signal is generated at one of these 1,000,000,000,000,000 connections, that signal will go on to the next neuron, where another set of thousands of connections awaits. And your brain is active, all the time. All these connections firing continuously in synchronicity with each other leads to the phenomenon of consciousness and experience. Those connections are changing, growing, and dying all the time.
