it's because the forum converted it to a .png it may have tried to shrink it or something I've had it convert pictures that were already .pngs but remove the transparency so my fun cartoon critter does not appear like he's standing there in the forum he has a giant white box around him so I shrink the image in photoshop and suddenly it works as I'd expect it to
