If I swore to uphold a set of principles which are technically still legally binding I would not fucking assassinate American citizens without a trial.
If you trust the government enough to give them carte blanche to kill anyone they want then you're basically asking them to kill you next. We're supposed to be in charge, and we're supposed to not let them kill us.
I trust the government to be less likely to result in my death than some terrorist sympathizer in a foreign sand pit, or a serial killer at large, or even a drunk driver trying to avoid his 7th DUI. The drunk driver is an extreme case, but if they can't pull him over then by all means deploy a spike strip & put his drunk ass in a culvert - if he dies, he dies.
