What's a tonsil stone? Why would you try to dig it out with a safety pin?

it's a clump of food and calcified t-cells that gets caught in the little crevices of the tonsils
and i used a safety pin because my needle nose pliers are too wide

they have a very unique smell that isn't like anything else
it's one of the most foul-smelling things i've ever smelled
really the only thing worse is a grease trap that hasn't been pumped out in over a year
