excuse me op, i am running windows 8 right now on my desktop, it does not suck. it is better than windows 7 in every way except it lacks a start menu but tbh i dont even miss it

my current graphics card doesn't have hdmi ports anyway, and my next one unless the newest cards ALL come with hdmi ports only if dvi is completely gone then that's the only way I won't have dvi for my brand new 2014 top of the line everything rig either
because you see, that's stupid, why put that extra stress on the graphics card when there's not only built-in audio on motherboards but slots where you can put super high quality sound cards nobody has managed to make sense of this yet and they never will not one person has given me any reason to even consider such a thing
btw to catch everyone up I got an LED monitor and it's fucking amazing it's made by acer it was super on sale at newegg IT DOESN'T EVEN GET HOT

I agree, but the metro interface is just a less organized start menu with gigantic fisher price buttons that you have to grab with your mouse and drag around. Search i the most efficient way to launch programs these days, the bar at the bottom of 7's start menu was glorious, sure they stole it from osx but who cares it works great. One click, then type the first 3 letters of a program or control panel setting, document etc and it pops up right there in front of you.Quote:

Windows 8's new interface should have been a taskbar with a search box embedded in it.
For what it's worth Server 2012 defaults to the desktop but if you click where the start menu is supposed to be it brings up the server manager instead of anything useful, and I miss the notification area.

oh and with classic shell not only do I get the best start menu ever I neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr have to see metro and all the explorer windows you can customize to be like XP which had all the fancy stuff but I only installed the start menu because I don't need explorer to have anything since second life's shortcut is right on the desktop, which my pc boots to right away it's not like it starts at metro on boot either
