you know what i'm not going to get the M5A97, that won't do crossfire at 16x on both pci-e slots. i'm going with this instead
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
its only $60 more and it will run a pair of radeon 7000 series cards in crossfire at full speed, so later when the gtx 480 is no longer powerful enough to keep up, i can easily upgrade, plus it has an internal usb 3.0 header, so i will be able to use the usb 3.0 ports on the front of the case, whereas that other board does not have that, its only usb 3.0 is on the back panel

ruby has 64gb of RAM... that's DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
my 16gb of RAM is DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900), it will have to work pretty hard to keep up

its amazing what you can build for $750 these days; thats the budget i built my computer on like 4 and a half years ago, and it has a 3.2GHz quad core phenom II, 2 gigs of DDR3 (it was when ddr3 just came out), and a 1 gig video card

do you work for corsair
their coolers are fine, their memory is fine, its just that i always buy the shit that has lots of reviews and mostly positive results, and the shit that has promo codes and rebates and so on usually is second-rate and just needs to be cleared off the shelves
not that it's all that different and i maybe will never notice, but i also don't have to worry about Q/A, differences between the flagship product that everybody likes, and the slightly-worse version, which doesn't get as closely inspected

in this particular case the H100 cooler is probably as good a choice as the X60 cooler, i will think that over
