plug drugs probably collects welfare as well. his grandparents will probably leave them that house and some cash, similar to ruby's situation. at least he's worked, idk whether he's doing something now. rationalizing stevey's situation as collecting a handout tbat's offered may work for you, but i don't see him being in need or trying to better himself. i work with people who are far worse off than he is, with health or mental problems, coming from prison or abuse and they admit, once they have the tools to escape it that welfare limited them, trapping them in a situation which made them scared to leave it. i think the biggest problem is that stevey has never even tried to work and his leaving highschool has totally fucked him and made him entitled and lazy and scared, thinking of doing only the bare minimum.
