that is untrue because steam also works as a very good instant messenger and is also the only way I can be bothered to keep in touch with forum people outside of the forum and when one such forum person is prone to disappearing for like a year I would like the ability to confirm that my friend is not dead and attempt to persuade him or her to return.

that's all that I ask. if I was super concerned I'd be willing to take your icq umber or whatever weird thing you use but frankly I have enough software on my computer already and steam does what I want it to so if someone doesn't have steam from my perspective they might as well be off the grid
