One of my friends made a guitar out of a two-by-four and all the other shit needed for the neck scraped off a broken guitar, and it was actually in tune and played good. He had all the math down behind things like the spacing between frets and made it his own. It impressed the fuck out of me; all I'm good with is drugs and words, not exactly a gift.

He's the kind of person who takes electronics apart just to see what's in them and then puts them back together again and somehow managed to improve the device in the process "yeah the soldering was shit so i re-did it" or "i bypassed the volume knob because it was making the sound cut out a little" and just shit like that

no if you look at lower model Fender™ indonesian breidges or even early model telecasters you'll see intonation screws.

there are lost of ways to complicate intonating a guitar, this is the least painful (notice i totally avoided painless because its a lot of work)

ahh resonation frequency, pine isa more porous this a lower resonation everywhere, which is why guitar necks are always made of harder woods and im no0t talking about oak even the AFRICAN BANJO (bet you thought i thought it was a 'murican thing from hillbillies) had a fret board made of eucalyptus or rosewood, or ebony. 9EBONY was preferrewd)
