Howard York, the Colorado Springs "machete robber," pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted murder in El Paso County court on Monday.

York was sentenced in June 2012 to 17 years in Sterling Correctional Facility after he robbed a local Papa Murphy's store while wielding a machete in January that year. A month later, the body of Crysta Chisholm, a homeless woman, was found wrapped in a quilt beneath York's trailer just outside Manitou Springs. For months, El Paso County Sheriff's detectives looked for evidence in the death, and eventually found a witness who claimed he saw York strangle Chisholm.
