You don't have to technically believe in God, but you do have to become willing to turn over your will and life to the care of a higher power.

It is a cult in a sense, but there are no dues, and the only requirement to join is a desire to stop using.

The majority of NA members are atheist/agnostic, and coming to believe that a higher power can restore us to sanity is certainly a struggle.

My self-will was what brought me to my bottom. Despite a long journey, I was unable to control my using. I simply cannot expect to stay clean on willpower alone
