To some, I'm preaching to the choir...

...to others, it makes no sense whatsoever.

Let me point out an example gleaned just this evening (AEST):

Three threads in the Flamers Hall (in lieu of no other possible place to position them bar the Gamers and Porn sub-forums).

Let's break the happenings down for each:

1. "I kind of miss the Asylum... I did my most honest work there..."

It's a hybrid combo of honesty, trolling, and flaming despite having the initial prospect of being above board.

2. "For the love of God - please give me music."

A thread devoted to something lost in the Asylum/Parlour but having very little to do with flaming or trolling.

3. "Business Thread"

Another thread which was started by someone who felt that it should be sacred despite being posted in the main forum reserved for flaming and trolling.

I, and others, mixed all sorts of integrity, dis-integrity, and complete left field comments into all three. (sorry, Dopey.... I needed to make an example of it).

In the end, the three threads suffered because something was missing.... a clear mission statement hovering above them. Now while it was always going to be an issue keeping legit and not so legit apart from one another, we once had a pretty good system.... two sections, two mission statements, two themes. Was there blowback across either of them? Of course, we're all after all only human, but it was manageable.

And then a certain person decided it was within their rights to use both sections and their PM/Email functions in order to exact retribution for being spurned in a real life encounter.

Those in the loop decided to teach that inbred hick a lesson and a greater number simply jumped on the bandwagon because it was fun text-punching an intellectual invalid who went too far.

That campaign went far and wide, even drawing in those from distant websites who could call a piece of shit the applicable turn of phrase deserved.

...and so it began, and ended.

Brawl-Hall is now a broken forum. As evidenced by the inability of three simple threads to stay on track (all in one section left standing), we see what's left after the carnage has brought.

This website won't survive as a forum for another year at this pace.
