and all modern sleep meds are "non narcotic" the only drugs that are dictionary "narcotics" are opiates/opioids, and they haven't been prescribed legitimately for insomnia in like half a century. It's just another word they love to throw in ads that has lost all meaning

technically you're right... a narcotic is an agent that induces narcosis
but i'm used to calling all mind-altering substances narcotics now because of NA.
