philosophy ends up becoming a psychological wall in a person's mind, as they start to invest too much time into it such that they can't let it go, even though it stops them from appreciating reality for what it is.

Nihilism is the end of the line for thinkers, which is perhaps why thinkers are not valued as reproduction-worthy by women. Thinkers consider all possibilities before believing in the one possibility which would most benefit themselves the most; women want men who are able to believe in whatever benefits them the most -- they want men who will be able to take for themselves without feeling guilty -- the 'confidence' which women are attracted to is both arrogant and ignorant.
Perhaps this is why the selfless are doomed to become martyrs.
