In the original script (which was filmed) of "What You Leave Behind," Captain Sisko dies in the Fire Caves on Bajor with Dukat. Cassidy then has a vision where she meets Sisko in the Celestial Temple. He tells her that he is never coming back and says goodbye. Avery Brooks was unhappy with the ending because he didn't like seeing an African-American leave his pregnant wife behind, so a new ending was filmed where Sisko tells Cassidy that he doesn't know when he will be back.

Sisko dying may have made more sense, as the Prophets warned him not to marry Cassidy, as it would only cause him sadness, as he would wind up leaving her behind, pregnant. But with this new ending, Sisko didn't really die and could return.

Which ending do you think is a better conclusion for the character and the show? Also, considering how close Ben and Jake were, were you unsatisfied that Ben didn't say goodbye to him?
