question #10 my car's throwing code P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1. Do I need a catalytic converter or an O2 sensor?

put the key in the on position, press the gas to the floor, turn the key off, hold gas down 5 seconds at least, boom engine light reset.

it comes and goes on its own, also I cleared out the code when I scanned it. Something needs to get fixed I'm just not sure what
