The Boston Marathon bombing proved something to us about the "terrorists"; the only thing stopping them is not whether or not we are prepared for them, but simply whether they are willing.

There isn't any serious threat posed to national security and there never has been. Even on 9/11, a few thousand deaths is almost negligible compared to the amount of deaths happening every day from causes we inflict upon ourselves -- and those deaths on 9/11 are also nothing compared to the millions of deaths in the wars that followed.
