The particles that make up the entire Earth are in superposition; therefore, the reason the Earth stays in orbit around the sun is, what could possibly knock it closer to the sun or further away from the sun?

Distance is an illusion; it's actually all based on the likelihood of particles interacting with other particles. The distance of the Earth from the sun is based on the quantum likelihood of the Earth's particles interacting with the Sun's particles.
