a lot of the stuff on there by default is bloatware trying to sell you shit
you have to move icons there for new applications, which is almost the same as the old UI's desktop, except this new UI for windows 8 is trying to sell you shit

the windows 8 OS would only be superior for a touch-mouse hybrid device, which aren't even popular, and would only ever enjoy a mild popularity because most people are going to want to stick either exclusively to a mouse or exclusively to a touch screen depending on what sort of tasks they have planned

plug drugs, in a way, everything involves some sort of 'touch GUI'.. my fingers interact with keyboard and mouse to interact with an interface.

Well, a keyboard-only interface has approx 100 keys, and only that many different options for peripheral input
a mouse gives input by reporting direction,
and a touch device gives input based on a grid

i can think of plenty of arguments against a touch device:
- a finger is a fat 3 dimensional object, not a stylus, and tends to hit many points on the grid simultaneously, causing unintentional results
- by having to touch a region of the screen, you have to move your finger and consequently your entire hand in the way of the screen, blocking your view of the screen

therefore, mouse & keyboard will always be superior in some way - the cream will rise to the top baby
