    I'm also going to be doing video editing and all sorts of things so the extra whatevers in the i7 work for that, I mean if the i5 is better htan the i7 why is it cheaper

    research whatever programs you plan on using to see if they use hyper-threading
    i.e., google "does ________________ use hyperthreading?"

    I would prefer something that doesn't need overclocking since it's super new and already super fast and already runs everything you throw at it for the next five years so it wouldn't really matter since if by then I'm still poor it'll only be because I"m dead

    that's your choice then; i personally would get a cheap i5 sandy bridge and use the money saved to cool it and overclock the fuck out of it

    the i7 is technically superior, if the software being used can take advantage of it; if it can't however, there is a small dent in performance
