I'm just saying that 10% a day is a pretty common across the board penalty for late work that hasn't had an extension approved, and allowing for extensions is usually just part and parcel of managing teaching. Make it official and even handed as you can, make simple extension requests forms, make the penalties for late work clear and defined and in writing and be prepared to be flexible as well for special circumstances. Have a form to apply for 'special consideration' too to cover for any who might fall through the cracks but are retrievable.
