credit cards are necessary to rent cars and book accommodations, just pay your balance in full every month (never late). This will build a credit history for your future needs. Getting a card from your bank is sound advice.

You can use a debit card exactly the same as a credit card you half-wit the only difference is you use YOUR OWN MONEY and not borrow it and have to pay interest. And so when I paid off my last credit card I closed it and got a debit card.
