it'd drive me nuts if they didn't think it was completely stupid to meet someone over the internet.. i don't know how you can explain it in a way that doesn't sound shallow but, you're missing out on certain qualities of a person when you've never actually seen them face to face, and you don't know how you're going to react when you finally meet them and certain little things about them start to annoy you or make you regret going through all that before meeting them
