    why is upper peninsula michigan and lower peninsula michigan even the same state they should just make the upper peninsula its own state or part of wisconsin or something

    it was part of wisconsin until ohio took the toledo strip from michigan and then michigan got the upper peninsula as a consolation prize from the federal government
