    The book or the movie... if you were to say Less Than Zero I would almost agree... but American Psycho is Bret Easton Ellis' best work and was clearly his most successful commercially.

    I dug the fuck out of Rules of Attraction btw. Hated the movie though.

    brett easton ellis said that rules of attraction was the only movie adaptation he liked. he hated american psycho because they stripped out all his 'yuppie culture is vapid blah blah' subtext and replaced it with 'HOLY SHIT CHAINSAWS'. for what it's worth I like them both but rules of attraction was way better

    I thought it touched on that well enough

    It was never going to be able to be as good as the book but I hardly think you can knock it

    Well I always tried to imagine how they would make a movie out of it

    And I thought they never would

    The author wrote the book and must have sold the rights for the movie so the author can shut up and write another book.

    I was lucky to see that piece of shit movie (American Psycho) before I read the book... but I read Rules of Attraction before I saw the movie which is why I hated it.
