the balloons you usually use for whippits are bigger than a typical plastic bag, I'm sure the small canisters would be fine, worse case scenario you use 2 or 3 of them

With whippits I always just sucked them out of a whipped cream thingy.... no I don't want to wake up half way through suffocating, you'd want a big canister
