    I'm shelled, and ftp'd in, with the same user, the main user for my vps. The files are clearly there, if I copy something into that directory I can see it on the web, I think their ftp server just kind of sucks balls and isn't sending the file list correctly. Now that I can shell in I can use that instead, I'd assume if I have ssh I have sftp.

    oh and I can't use letsencrypt without a dedicated, it absolutely requires sudo because the vps is missing a bunch of required packages, so there's that

    you have to pay them, bro
    i've seen other hosts who let you use free certs as an option, but not godaddy of course. they suck as much money out of you as possible

    letsencrypt is just as guilty, most other authorities will call you to verify you own the domain, they'll only issue one if you run their script from an ip that matches the a record you're getting the cert for.
