Gene Rano, 66, underwent surgery to remove a blockage in his esophagus Tuesday and found his back door open when he and his son returned home later in the afternoon. Rano’s home was ransacked and three computers - which contained several family photos -, two digital cameras, a flat screen TV, an alarm clock, jewelry, cash and his medications were stolen, he said.
“It’s just so depressing,” said Rano, who is confined to a wheelchair, has a heart condition, is partially blind and recently had a stroke. “My son said ‘Dad you don’t want to go in there’ when we got home.”
