an authoritarian doesn't comply with the courts
an authoritarian doesn't care about public opinion and quickly take action to placate his critics
an authoritarian doesn't deregulate anything
the republicans would never support an authoritarian- they are party of the constitutional republic

and to anyone who says trump "wants" to be an authoritarian but there are too many obstacles- this absolutely means nothing because anyone and everyone would be an authoritarian leader if it was easy.
that means quite a lot because he's in a position to remove some of those obstacles, even as he demonstrates exactly why they're there
