doing nothing would be praying for mass deportation of all the current illegals while also taking no action to impede criminal activity across the border (people/drugs/etc). I thought you were being facetious when you were talking about deporting everybody. trump supporters, not just trolls like marco, many of them "strongly agree" with deporting ms13 members and "slightly/not at all agree" with deporting people who have lived in this nation since they were 2 years old, vets, etc...[deportation spectrum lol] I'm not sure to what extent you want to see deportations happen but if its because you think it could turn people away from trump, well it could. Trump would rather use some of their amnesty or naturalization as a bargaining token against the obstructing democrats- or at least to expose how democrats [and never trumpublicans] in this situation would rather defeat trump and make a hypocritical refusal to negotiate in favor of "dreamer futures"

correct, a large part of this would be immigration reform addressing the current undocumented people and the bureaucracy involved with immigrating, but the physical barrier is also an impediment to drug trafficking and sex/labor slaves who wouldn't enter through legal ports of entry. Its in large about thwarting the cartel which is unfortunately in league with many american and mexican politicans who, as we agreed, use these issues to their own gain. The cost of the barrier will pay for its self because the investment will in return reduce the cost of dealing with border crimes and tangential crimes and social issues in all parts of the nation like drug abuse

I'm surprised you're using line of sight as an argument, everyone knows newest wall meme is BEAUTIFUL STEEL SLATS. Do you honestly think it pragmatic not to have a barrier on the border between two urban areas, you think border agents feel that way? The whole "we don't need any physical barrier" meme is completely false because why wouldn't we just tear down whats already there if it was "in the way" lmfao. a "smart barrier" is currently being designed by a team of expert engineers which is going to be brought to the govt within this 3 week period. These engineers are working with border control agents to diversify and maximize the effectiveness of any physical barrier. tall steel slats in urban areas will stop "MANY" elderly, women, and children- especially in caravan scenarios. chain link fence in wide open areas with plenty of view would be erected in locations currently with 0 barrier where a vehicle can be driven through, in these areas people on foot can be spotted more easily and just driven up to by border agents.
loonie, we don't need walls everywhere, that is a waste of money. We need and have walls where people cross on foot. These have already been built near urban areas

so why not support cbp in doing this, rather than building 2200 miles of wall?

idk if you read my reply but i said in these areas the engineers might plan to put something less expensive like chainlink fence. engineers are working with border patrol agents to decide what goes where so i doubt anything in their plan would be undesired by cbp
