why not just get a windows 7 home basic or premium disc and go fresh?

If you want to do it on the phone, yeah. I'll bet the one on the torrent site has been used more than 4 or 5 times, and if you use someone else's it will (in theory) de-activate the legit copy so you'll go back and forth until all 4 or 5 times are used up
