uhm if you start typing from the "Start" metro UI screen it will automatically go to search... so if you hit the windows key and start typing it will type it in the search bar... its the same thing bro...

your average home user isn't going to know what the fuck classicshell.net is and they're going to resent losing the interface it took them 20 years to get used to. windows 8 is going to flop, it already has, and it's nobody's fault but microsoft's. they didn't do this because they thought metro was a better way to use a pc, they did it to get people addicted to their live tiles, the whole thing is one big advertisement for the windows phone

The Modern UI bloat that doesn't really exist.
Another point of contention for Start screen opponents is the modern UI apps that come included with the operating system constituting bloatware. Well, they don't. These are apps that tell you the weather, list out the headlines, track your stocks, and so on. The default set of apps that come with Windows 8 barely have a couple of dozen megabytes in memory footprint, which is made up for by an overall better memory management by Windows 8. Besides, enthusiast PCs begin at 4 GB of memory, 8 GB is considered mainstream for gaming PCs, and enthusiast builds are getting the whiff of 16 GB already. Plenty of room in there for an app that tells the weather.

I'd use windows 8 for my remote workstation if all the metro touch bullshit translated over rdp onto a phone's touchscreen but of course it doesn't so I'm pretending to use a mouse on an os that pretends the mouse is a touchscreen and my god is it awful

oh christ i would never install windows 8 on office computers i alrady said that, but not because of memory issues, it manages memory better than windows 7 and the "bloatware" Metro UI would barly make a dent in a tpyical workstation computer's memory usage anyways, no the reason i woudlnt install it on workstations is because people would be too intimidated by the lack fo a start menu and it would damage efficiency because people wouldnt be able to adopt it

and that's why it's not being adopted by businesses
and that in turn is why it's not being adopted by the public, people like using the same shit on their home computer that they are used to using at work

yeah, it is the best browser, although chrome is actually probably a bit better in some areas right now, but Opera is always on the leading edge of browser software development and Chrome basically ripped off everything Opera came up with first

I downloaded lynx and lib32shittybrowser from the git repositories and spent 7 hours compiling it instead of downloading a zip file like a normal person because if you use the make flag "win8support=no" it's 2% faster and has a built in antivirus and renders more realistic dildos

opera is built from chomium which is the open source project chrome is also built from which means it's exactly chrome with a tweaked UI. I was implying you are going down the stevey route of making things way more complicated than they have to be for the sake of being different. you're the sort of guy who runs freebsd or gnu hurd because linux isn't leet enough.
