well let me point a few things out. First of all, I think it does happen to a small extent, but it's not as commonplace as you like to think it is.
Second, the porn industry is one of the best and smartest industries in existence at being able to appeal to your deepest seated emotions, fears, pleasures, and neuroses. Let me tell you a little story about where I'm from in Duluth Minnesota.
Once upon a time, decades ago but sometime after 1901, a traveling circus came to the fine twin ports of Duluth MN. Among the circus travelers were two black acrobats, or maybe they were jugglers, I don't know who cares.. Now in the coming part of this tale, maybe what happened happened because the subconscious racial tension among middle aged whites in the area invented it, or just that slightest spark of the imagination triggered an all-or-nothing violent response.. Or maybe it was the female's doing, and she just wanted to either irritate and entice sexual jealousy in the males of the community, or maybe she just wanted to see what happened.

Anyways, one of the young girls in the town told her father, or it might have been her brother, or an exboyfriend maybe, I don't know who cares.. that she got raped by the two aforementioned black men. No matter what the circumstances were leading to her invention of this story, the result was catastrophic by anyone's measure.

The dad (or brother or ex boyfriend or whatever) formed a posse, went downtown to the traveling circus in a rage, and hung the two black guys from a lamp post on 2nd street in downtown Duluth.

The daughter later told everyone that she made up the story.
A lesson was hopefully learned that day, by everyone.
That was a true story by the way, the incident was one of the greater embarrassments in the history of the city. It still evokes an apologetic attitude and humility to people around here whenever it's told again.

I wondered if that story kind of puts the city of Duluth in a bad light, since it makes it sound like this city's racial and political attitudes haven't made it more than a few generations out of the dark ages
But think of it this way: how often do those same types of incidents happen in a big city like New York, Chicago, or LA where it slips by unnoticed, or even worse, only has a paragraph long summary put in the paper about it and nothing else after that?

Duluth and Northern Minnesota is a bizarre place to live.. At one point, Duluth had more millionaires per capita than any other city in the country. It had a large amount of immigration from scandinavia throughout the 20th century. It inherited Scandinavian culture, but the thing about any culture in Europe is they've all been around for thousands of years.. Places in America, especially in the more rural states like Minnesota, have a very primitive vibration coming from them that says a lot more about the instincts of humans in the area than it does about their culture..
Culture is often developed to accommodate for a survival-related challenge in the environment, or in some cases a massive tragedy may have occurred in history, and culture developed to prevent it from reoccurring. But in freshly pioneered places like Northern Minnesota, the culture you'll observe is very shy and might not come out, but when you catch a sneak look at it, it's composed of true grit. I wonder how the Hell people ever used to survive through the winter around here a hundred years ago, it's difficult enough even when you have cars and gas heating.

I think a lot about where my ancestors were from and compare it to the place I'm living in, and try to think of parts of my personality I might have inherited. My mom was adopted, so the genes I got from her were from white trash Kentuckians, probably scotch-irish based on hearing that they were alcoholics, but they were also a little French, Italian, English, and Swedish I remember someone saying.. My dad's mom was 100% Finnish, but his dad was Irish, French, a small amount of French Canadian indian, and a few other things I can't remember. My grandfather was schizophrenic so you could never rely on anything he told you about family history; he told me once when I was 5 that I was "part chinese and if I ever told the French they'd kill me", a lot of quality genes there
