I put a soul trap enchantment on my legendary daedric battleaxe which I renamed "The Reaper", and I put a point in the "Soul Siphon" perk, which allows the enchantment to essentially be self-sustaining. I collect soul gems, and use them to put pointless enchantments on iron daggers to advance my skills in enchanting as well as sell the daggers for profit.
Now, I've recently read about a fabled daedric artifcat called "The Black Star" which is an unbreakable/unconsumable grand soul gem that can trap humanoid souls. Once I have it, The Reaper shall feast upon the soul of every person I murder.
There is good money in harvesting souls, and good sport as well. If your soul is permanently obliterated in the process, it only makes it more entertaining and pleasurable

This is how the majority of my characters make their money. Harvest ore, transmute it into gold, make jewelry, enchant with water breathing.

Skyrim's all about the world and unfolding the story for yourself. There's very few cutscenes or any of that shit, how deep you get into the story is entirely up to you but it goes pretty deep nonetheless
