is the any reason why I couldn't use a modern filesystem like ext4 or ntfs for my external sdcard? why in 2014 does it default to fucking fat32

fat32 is the most compatible between devices and operating systems, it's the lowest common demonter and will be able to be read by more devices than ntfs, also i think ms owns ntfs and you have to pay them for the lib but i am not sure on that

let's say i want to transfter my contacts from my 2003 smart phoen to my galaxy se322312 there's no way in fuck that smart phone will read ntfs or anything other than fat or fat 32

Android uses ext4 for everything else, and it's readable by linux or even windows if you install a driver for it, and vfat exists and is readable by anything past XP, so considering all that I assume there must be a reason why they're using fat32 and if there isn't I'm going to format that sucker as ext4 and be done with it

have you looked into f2fs because there's ROMs for the n7 that are designed for it for every disk in the device system mount whatever all that shit

you're welcome I used thsi recently but I literally go years without connecting my mobiles to my stationaries because I'm not a nerd so I tried this and thoguht it was cool then forgot about ti since I hav eno use for it but it transfered files wicked fast for me at least
