the major problem with futuristic sci fi shit is that they never explain why super advanced weaponry doesnt exist that makes traditional dramatized combat infeasible and corny,
like, in the future, i'd imagine there would be computer-aided weaponry that never missed and owned things instantly, or anti-matter bombs that would just blow the fuck out of everything so there should never be actual fighting scenes

i like fantasy like lord of the rings though because the unbelievable aspects of lotr never claimed to be actually possible in the first place, where as sagas like Star Trek sort of pose as "actually possible in the future"

I bet thats what people said in the 60s when everyone on the enterprise had a pocket communicator with a bunch of different functions in it but now everyone has a smartphone with a video camera and ghost detector in it
